Validating Selective Seam Weld Corrosion Classification Using ILI Technology
Selective Seam Weld Corrosion (SSWC) detection, identification and sizing can be challenging. In many cases, the SSWC features are embedded in a field of general corrosion. Further, SSWC anomalies in the long seam weld can demonstrate similar characteristics to lesser integrity threats such as benign trim defects or stable manufacturing anomalies. This whitepaper explores the process of validating SSWC classification using ILI technology and uncovers insights about the significant dig feedback data that is necessary to refine SSWC detection and classification efforts.
